Testimonials

Carson Dunlop has completed numerous ecoENERGY evaluations on residential properties in Southern Ontario. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to continuously improving our service levels. Here is what some of our clients are saying:

The ecoENERGY assessment went well because...
Answer: "Stefan's professionalism and personable nature made the two part assessment interesting and informative. It was a pleasure to welcome him back into our home for the final part of the assessment process."

The ecoENERGY assessment could have gone better if...
Answer: "I have no recommendations for improvement. We have recommended Carson Dunlop to others in our area considering an audit....your response time was mere days whereas the auditors living and working in our specific areas are booked for months in advance."
- Frank & Sharon Mayer

"The advisor explained clearly what he was doing and what we could do to improve the energy efficiency of our home."
- Peter Drake

Frequently Asked Questions

Q - Does your home have comfort problems such as drafts, cold spots and frosted windows?
A - Find the source of these problems and get information about repairing them.

Q - Renovating or retrofitting?
A - Energy advisors use state-of-the-art evaluation practices and can advise on the best modern techniques and types of products.

Q - Upgrading your heating and cooling system?
A - Energy efficiency improvements can make a difference to the size of the heating and cooling system that your home needs.

Q - Selling your house?
A - After you've made energy efficiency upgrades and comfort improvements to your home, the energy efficiency rating label shows potential buyers how much you've improved your home's energy efficiency and how it compares to other homes in your area.

Q - Can you recommend a contractor to perform the proposed work on my home?
A - We don't work directly with or for any contractors. You are not obligated to buy any products or services from us or any of the contractors who refer ecoENERGY evaluations to us. We are bound and abide by a code of Ethics with NRCAN. We strongly suggest that you get 3 quotes for the work to be done. There is also information on the CMHC website called "Hiring a Contractor".

Q - I already started my renovations. Can I still apply for a grant?

A - Unfortunately, all renovations started prior to obtaining a pre-retrofit energy assessment are not eligible for a grant.
All energy-related renovations undertaken after a valid energy assessment has been performed are eligible as long as they are listed in the Eligible Improvements / Retrofits table.

Q - In a nutshell, tell me how all of the money works with the ecoENERGY program as it relates to my own pocketbook?
A - You will be required to: pay for the initial evaluation, then complete and pay for your improvements, then complete and pay for the 2nd evaluation, and then apply to get your money back.

Q - Can I make more than one grant application - say I do some work now and some work 6 months from now - can I apply at two separate times for grant money?
A - You are eligible to only make one grant application. You can't do some work, get a grant and then do other work later. You have an 18 month window, from the time you do the first audit to get all of your work done, get a 2nd evaluation and apply for your grant. You only get one chance to submit your grant application.
