This program helps you while you undertake training or upgrading. It is intended to increase your chances of finding and maintaining employment. ALTS normally only funds training programs that are a year, or less, in duration and that will lead to employment. Generally, training funded under this program falls under two categories; training that directly leads to employment after it is completed and work readiness or upgrading training. If you were laid off after 2004, you may qualify for skills training for in-demand occupations in Ontario – even if you’ve received Employment Insurance (EI).
