Alberta Home Inspector Licensing Requirements

Does the province of Alberta require licensing of home inspectors?

Yes.

High school diploma required?

No.

What are the educational requirements?

You need an approved education program (or designation or license from approved industry Association a regulatory body).

Recommended education program:

The Carson Dunlop Home Inspection Training Program.

Examination required?

No, except as part of your education program.

Test inspection
A test inspection is required and is supervised by an approved educational institution or licensed home inspector.

Errors and omissions insurance required?
Yes, $1 million per occurrence and $2 million annual aggregate.

Security required?
Home inspection businesses have to provide a $10,000 security. E.g. a General Surety Bond, a Cash Security Agreement or an irrevocable Letter of Credit.
